Master's Program
The mission of the master of science with a concentration in speech-language pathology is to provide superior academic and clinical preparation, instilling the knowledge and skills necessary to demonstrate entry-level practitioner competence in speech-language pathology, across the scope of practice.
**Please note the December 15 of the application year deadline for ALL application materials unless you are doing Academic Update. See specific application requirements.
Also, a minimum of 4 CDIS pre-requisites, with grades, must be completed before the December 15 of the application year deadline.
Additionally, all pre-requisites must be completed prior to the start of the program.
Academic Update is ONLY accepted by BGSU for students who need their fall semester classes to complete the required 4 CDIS pre-requisites. All others who submit Academic Update will not have their fall grades included in their admissions review. To be considered in the applicant pool, you are required to have a minimum overall grade point average (GPA) of 3.00, and a minimum GPA of 3.20 in the major.
The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders offers the Master of Science Degree with a concentration in Speech-Language Pathology.
The Master of Science (M.S.) education program in Speech-Language Pathology (residential and distance components) at Bowling Green State University is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, 2200 Research Boulevard #310, Rockville, Maryland 20850, 800-498-2071 or 301-296-5700. Our Council of Academic Accreditation (CAA) accredited program meets the academic requirements of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association's Certificate of Clinical Competence as well as the requirements for Licensure from the State of Ohio.
The Master's Program is a two-year program, consisting of 4 academic semesters of on-campus study (including one summer semester). The fifth semester is devoted to a full-time, off-campus externship. Students will be enrolled in practica experiences every semester. The practica will take place at the on-campus speech and hearing clinic as well as at various sites throughout Northwest Ohio.
