Borrowing Library Materials
Current students, faculty, and staff can borrow materials at the Circulation Desk by showing their BG1 Card or photo ID. Your BG1 card is also valid for checkouts at any OhioLINK library. Alumni and community members can borrow materials by obtaining a courtesy card.
You can request any item in the BGSU catalog that has a Place Hold button. Once requested, you'll receive an email when the item is ready for pickup. If the item is already checked out, try OhioLINK first; if unavailable, email circdesk@bgsu.edu to place a hold.
Using and Renewing Materials
Items from the Browne Popular Culture Library, Center for Archival Collections, and closed Music Library and Bill Schurk Sound Archive collections must be used on-site. Items from the main stacks, Curriculum Resource Center, and open Music Library collections can be checked out and taken home.
Items from the main stacks and open Music Library collections check out to undergraduates for 6 weeks and can be renewed for up to a total checkout period of 36 weeks. They check out to graduate students until the semester ends and can be renewed for up to a total checkout period of 28 months. And they check out to faculty and staff until the academic year ends and can be renewed for up to a total checkout period of 84 months.
Items from OhioLINK and the Curriculum Resource Center check out to all patrons for 6 weeks and can be renewed for up to a total checkout period of 36 weeks.
To renew items, log in to your library account or contact the Circulation Desk.
You can authorize another BGSU community member to check out materials for you by completing the Authorized Borrower form.
Students maintain library privileges during summer break as long as they haven't graduated and plan to return in the fall.
