Open Educational Resources (OERs) are free textbooks, videos and learning materials with Creative Commons licensing that can be modified and repurposed based on specific license terms.

Grants
Financial support available for BGSU faculty adopting or creating an OER, with priority for high-enrollment courses.
Creation Grant dates:
- October 27, 2025 - November 28, 2025
- Decision: January 2026
Creation Grants - $3,000
Available for developing a new OER when existing options are unavailable:
- Traditional textbooks
- Instructional videos
- Oral history collections
- Lab workbooks
Grants cover development costs only (not hosting or printing) and require original work. Applications open each Fall semester.
Ancillary Materials Grants - Coming Soon!
A new grant program for OER supplementary materials is launching in Fall 2025.
Workshops
- On-demand workshops available for in-depth OER implementation
- Presentations available for department and faculty meetings
