Borrow from Other Libraries (ILL)

If we don’t have an item you need, we’ll help you get it–at no cost to you! Through our Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service, you can request a wide variety of materials:  

  • books
  • journal articles or book chapters
  • music scores
  • DVDs 
  • and more

We’ll borrow the item from another library and let you know when it’s ready.  

Delivery Times

  • Electronic items: Usually delivered within 24 hours
  • Physical items: Arrive in 7-14 days

How to Request Items

Through Library Search (preferred)

  • Search BGSU, OhioLINK and more

    If an item is not available or is currently checked out, you’ll see links like:

    • "Request physical item via Interlibrary Loan"
      "Request chapter scan"

  • Click the appropriate link to open a pre-filled request form.

  • Use the correct request type:

    • Physical Item: For full books, DVDs, CDs, or scores
    • Chapter Scan: For journal articles or specific book chapters (you may need to identify the chapter)

  • You may also see a "Sharing" link. If available, this option can deliver the item faster using OhioLINK or SearchOhio.

Directly Through the ILL System
  1. Log in to the ILL system.
  2. Click "Create Request."
  3. Enter as much information as you can.
  4. We’ll contact you if we need more details.

After You Submit a Request

  • You will receive an email when your item is ready to download or pick up.
